There is a moment in good design when everything clicks — when a single decision makes the whole thing make sense. For the Squeeze Swivel Chair, that moment is the strap.
A single nylon strap, wrapped around the body of the chair. It holds the design together — literally and visually. Without it, Squeeze would be beautiful but undefined. With it, she becomes something entirely her own. Bold, considered and unmistakably intentional.
The Idea Behind the Design
Squeeze was created in collaboration with Danish designer Søren Le Schmidt — a designer known for work that balances bold volumes with quiet restraint. The brief was simple in concept and complex in execution: create a chair that envelops you completely, that feels like a warm hug the moment you sink into it, without ever losing the clean, minimalist aesthetic that defines considered Scandinavian design.
The answer was volume. Generous, rounded, unapologetically soft shapes that wrap around the body rather than simply supporting it. But volume without structure risks feeling formless — and that is where the strap comes in.
Form Follows Function
The nylon strap is not decorative. It gives the chair its silhouette, creates the tension between soft and structured, and provides the visual anchor that stops Squeeze from feeling like she is simply sitting in a room. She is defining it.
Beneath the chair, a discreet 360-degree swivel base allows her to rotate freely — facing the window, the room, the conversation, wherever the moment takes her. It is a detail that is entirely hidden until you need it, and then entirely essential.
The Fabric
Squeeze arrives in a range of colourways, each one chosen to work with her form rather than compete with it. In Moonlight Sand, the off-white chenille softens the boldness of her shape — a fabric woven from polyester with exceptional softness, high durability and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification. In Moss Olive, she grounds herself in something earthier, a rich dark green that makes the strap feel even more considered against the matte chenille surface.
Both fabrics share the same qualities — easy to maintain, resistant to fading and built to last long after the novelty of a new chair has worn off.
